Writing

My nonfiction—essays, profiles, book reviews, reportage—has appeared in publications ranging from Cincinnati Magazine to The New York Times. The many subjects I’ve written about include an architecturally significant widow, a group of old nuns trying to recruit new ones, a cat who died, another cat who died, the time I performed a poultry-based miracle in Mexico, my love for Tove Ditlevsen’s The Copenhagen Trilogy, my former love for smoking, and the trip to London I almost ruined by acting like an iceberg. • My short fiction has appeared in The Missouri Review (where my first published story won the Editors’ Prize for Fiction) and American Short Fiction, and is forthcoming in The Georgia ReviewI was a finalist for the 2025 Story Foundation Prize, and I’m working on a novel.
